30 kg of banned SUP seized in Nyoma

NYOMA: The Nyoma administration intensified enforcement of the ban on single-use plastics on Wednesday, with a special inspection drive across the market area resulting in the seizure of around 30 kg of banned single-use plastic items and expired products from commercial establishments.

The drive, led by Naib Tehsildar Anlay, Kunzes Dolma, focused on checking shops and business establishments for the use, sale and storage of prohibited single-use plastic items. Officials also imposed fines on violators as part of measures to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.

During the inspection, authorities scrutinised commercial outlets to identify banned plastic products and other prohibited items, reinforcing the administration’s ongoing campaign to curb plastic pollution and improve waste management in the region.

Appealing to shopkeepers, residents and visitors to support the initiative, Kunzes Dolma urged the public to avoid the use of banned single-use plastics, adopt environmentally sustainable alternatives and refrain from littering to help maintain a clean environment.

She said enforcement and inspection drives would continue on a regular basis and warned that strict action would be taken against those found violating the ban.

The administration said sustained enforcement, coupled with public cooperation, would be essential to ensuring effective implementation of the single-use plastic ban and promoting environmentally responsible practices across the region.
