SAKTI: Forty-nine people were screened for tuberculosis and non-communicable diseases at a health camp organised at AAM-PHC Sakti under the 100 Days Intensified TB Elimination Campaign.
The camp was organised in collaboration with the District Tuberculosis Centre, Leh, as part of the ‘Jan Jan Ka Rakhe Dhyaan – TB-Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan’, with the focus on active TB case finding, early diagnosis and screening for conditions including hypertension and diabetes.
Of the 49 people screened, 27 were men and 22 women. All participants underwent AI-enabled chest X-ray screening, while sputum samples were collected on the spot from 21 people for CBNAAT testing.
NCD screening was also carried out for all 49 participants.
Dr Jigmet Wangchuk, In-charge Medical Officer at AAM-PHC Sakti, briefed participants on the importance of early detection, timely treatment and regular follow-up for TB and other health conditions.
The screening was conducted jointly by the health centre staff and personnel deputed by DTC Leh. The use of AI-enabled X-ray technology and on-site sputum collection was aimed at speeding up the identification and investigation of presumptive TB cases.
The simultaneous NCD screening broadened the outreach by allowing participants to be assessed for common health risks alongside TB.
Health officials said such integrated community-level camps can help take preventive healthcare closer to remote populations and improve early detection of diseases.
The initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen community-based TB detection and preventive healthcare services in the district.
