LEH: The Agriculture Department’s Nyoma Zone conducted farmer training programmes at Chumathang and Skidmang villages in Changthang district, focusing on mushroom cultivation, natural farming and awareness of departmental schemes.
The programmes were organised under the Kisan Goshti and ATMA schemes, with 53 farmers participating at Chumathang and 25 at Skidmang.
Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer Leh Mohd Ramzan, who chaired the programmes, conducted sessions on mushroom cultivation and explained the importance of organic and natural farming practices to farmers at both villages.
Agriculture Extension Officer, Nyoma, Nawang Palkit, briefed participants about various schemes of the Agriculture Department and conducted practical demonstrations on natural farming, including the preparation of Jeevaamrit.
At Chumathang, the Kisan Goshti programme saw participation from 53 farmers, while 25 farmers attended the ATMA training programme at Skidmang.
Farmers actively interacted with the resource persons and showed particular interest in mushroom cultivation and natural farming practices.
The programmes were aimed at strengthening farmers’ knowledge of alternative cultivation practices and improving awareness of government-supported agricultural schemes in Changthang.
