98 Candidates Qualify as Ladakh Police concludes Day One of SI Rectt Physical Tests

LEH: The Ladakh Police Subordinate Service Recruitment Board on Thursday concluded the first day of the Physical Standard Test (PST) and Physical Endurance Test (PET) for the ongoing recruitment to 40 posts of Sub-Inspector (General Cadre), with 98 candidates qualifying after completing the prescribed physical standards and endurance tests.

The recruitment drive is being conducted for Sub-Inspector posts in the Executive, Armed/Indian Reserve Police, State Disaster Response Force, Women Battalion and Border Battalion wings of the Ladakh Police under Notification No. 01 of 2026.

According to the Recruitment Board, 7,028 candidates have applied for the 40 vacancies. Of these, 3,473 applications were received from Leh district, including 1,506 male and 1,967 female candidates, while 3,555 candidates from Kargil district applied, comprising 2,833 male and 722 female applicants.

The physical examination commenced at NDS Stadium, Leh, where the first day’s tests for male candidates were conducted in two shifts. A total of 505 candidates had been scheduled to appear, of whom 324 candidates attended the examination.

Candidates underwent prescribed physical measurements followed by endurance tests in accordance with the recruitment rules and standards notified by the Board. At the conclusion of the day’s proceedings, 98 candidates successfully cleared both the Physical Standard Test and the Physical Endurance Test.

Officials said the recruitment process was conducted under established procedures to ensure transparency and adherence to the notified eligibility criteria.

The PST/PET at the Leh centre will continue according to the notified schedule until August 3, after which the recruitment process will shift to Kargil, where physical tests are scheduled to commence on August 6.

The ongoing recruitment is among the largest police selection exercises undertaken in the Union Territory in recent years and is expected to determine eligibility for the next stage of the selection process for Sub-Inspector appointments in Ladakh Police.
