NEW DELHI: Former Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor of the BJP-led Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson, met Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National General Secretary (Organisation) B L Santhosh in New Delhi and thanked the party leadership for its support towards securing constitutional and administrative protections for Ladakh.
During the meeting, Gyalson conveyed his greetings and appreciation to Santhosh and acknowledged what he described as the central leadership’s support for measures intended to strengthen safeguards for Ladakh under Article 371-K.
According to the press release, Gyalson said the measures would support the establishment of a UT-level elected body while providing protection to Ladakh’s land rights, distinct cultural identity, forests, environment and natural resources.
He also expressed gratitude to Santhosh for his support on welfare-related issues, including compensation and relief measures for victims of the September 24 incident, as well as the withdrawal of cases.
The former LAHDC Leh chief executive councillor also thanked Santhosh for his continued guidance and mentorship, and his support for what he described as the broader development of Ladakh.
The meeting comes amid continuing political discussions in Ladakh over constitutional safeguards, land protection and the institutional framework of governance in the Union Territory.
