LEH: In a continued crackdown on drug trafficking and substance abuse in the Union Territory, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), Ladakh, on Saturday arrested a 22-year-old man after recovering a suspected heroin-like substance from his possession during an anti-narcotics operation in Leh.
According to an official press release issued by ANTF Ladakh, the accused has been identified as Stanzin Odthan, son of Tundup Gonbo and a resident of Shenam, Leh. Police said a small quantity of the suspected contraband was recovered from his possession following the legal procedures prescribed under the law.
Following the recovery, FIR No. 06/2026 has been registered at Police Station ANTF, UT Ladakh under Sections 8/21 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The accused has been taken into custody.
Police said further investigation is underway to ascertain the source of the suspected narcotics, identify possible supply networks and establish any wider linkages connected with the case. Reaffirming its commitment to eliminating the drug menace from Ladakh, the ANTF said it will continue to intensify enforcement against drug trafficking, peddling and substance abuse across the Union Territory.
The task force also appealed to the public to remain vigilant and promptly share information regarding any drug-related activities with the police to facilitate timely and effective action.
