LEH: The Indian Army on Saturday organised a Veteran Interaction at Karu Military Station, bringing together ex-servicemen, Veer Naris, Veer Matas and widows in recognition of their service, sacrifice and enduring contribution to the nation.
The event served as a platform for outreach and engagement with the veteran community while reinforcing the longstanding bond between the Army and its former personnel and their families.
A range of facilitation and support services were made available during the programme through dedicated stalls set up by the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS), SPARSH, LSRC Records, Army Welfare Placement Organisation (AWPO) and various banking institutions. Participants were provided assistance on pension-related matters, documentation procedures and welfare schemes.
The programme also featured grievance redressal sessions, enabling veterans and their families to raise concerns and seek guidance on service-related issues. Medical and dental check-up facilities were arranged to ensure access to essential healthcare services.
As part of the event, Gallantry Awardees and Veer Matas were felicitated in recognition of their courage, sacrifice and distinguished service to the nation. The ceremony paid tribute to the contribution of military families whose support and resilience continue to inspire future generations.
Army officials said the interaction was aimed at strengthening engagement with the veteran fraternity and ensuring that welfare measures and institutional support remain accessible to former servicemen and their dependents.
The event concluded with a reaffirmation of the Army’s commitment to the welfare and well-being of veterans and their families, underscoring the enduring relationship between serving personnel and those who have contributed to the nation’s security over the years.
