BJP Ladakh leaders join Kargil Vijay Diwas commemoration, pay tribute to War heroes

LEH: Senior leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Ladakh, led by State President Tashi Gyaltson Khachu, on Sunday participated in the Kargil Vijay Diwas commemoration in Leh, where tributes were paid to the soldiers who laid down their lives during the 1999 Kargil War.

Khachu was accompanied by State Vice President Gyal P. Wangyal and other senior party functionaries at the ceremony, which was attended by Divisional Commissioner Ladakh Shurbir Singh, IAS, as the Chief Guest and Administrative Secretary, Tourism, Sanjit Rodrigues, IAS, as the Guest of Honour.

The commemorative event also witnessed the presence of former Member of Parliament Thupstan Chhewang, President of Anjuman Moin-ul-Islam Mohd Shafi Lassu, President of the Ex-Servicemen Association, Leh, Captain Morup, along with war veterans, ex-servicemen, civil administration officials and members of the public.

During the ceremony, BJP leaders joined other participants in paying floral tributes to the martyrs of the Kargil War, honouring the courage and sacrifice of the personnel of the Indian Armed Forces who defended the country’s territorial integrity during the 1999 conflict.

Later, the BJP leaders also welcomed Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on his arrival in Leh after he attended the Kargil Vijay Diwas commemoration at Drass, where he led the national tribute to the soldiers who lost their lives in the war.

Speaking on the occasion, Tashi Gyaltson Khachu expressed gratitude to the armed forces and the families of the fallen soldiers, stating that Kargil Vijay Diwas remains a reminder of the courage, unity and patriotism displayed during the conflict. He said the occasion inspires citizens to uphold the values for which the soldiers made the supreme sacrifice.

The BJP leaders also reaffirmed their commitment to honouring the legacy of the Kargil martyrs and extending continued support to the Indian Armed Forces in their service to the nation.
