KARGIL: LAHDC Kargil Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhoon has assured prompt action on the deteriorated Hussaini Bridge–Chulachay link road and shortage of a Mathematics teacher at Government PM Shri Higher Secondary School, Pashkum.
Dr Akhoon gave the assurance during a meeting with a delegation of the Al-Muntazir Educational and Developmental Organisation, Pashkum, led by its Vice-President, which raised the two issues concerning residents and students of the area.
The delegation sought immediate macadamisation and widening of the link road from Hussaini Bridge to Chulachay, citing its deteriorated condition, inadequate width and difficulties faced by residents, commuters and schoolchildren.
It also raised concerns over the absence of a Mathematics teacher at Government PM Shri Higher Secondary School, Pashkum, saying the shortage was affecting students’ academic progress, particularly those preparing for Class 10 examinations.
The delegation urged the administration to urgently address both issues, citing the need for safer road connectivity and adequate teaching staff at the school.
Following the representations, the CEC directed the concerned departments to examine the issues on priority and assured the delegation that necessary action would be taken.
The R&B Division, Kargil, has been asked to look into the road-related concerns, while the Education Department has been directed to address the shortage of a Mathematics teacher.
The delegation thanked the CEC for hearing their concerns and expressed hope that the issues would be resolved at the earliest in the interest of residents and students of Pashkum.
