LEH: Vice-Chancellor of the Central Institute of Buddhist Studies (Deemed to be University), Prof. Rajesh Ranjan, led a cleanliness drive at the institute’s Choglamsar campus as the Swachhta Hi Sewa Campaign 2026 was launched on Thursday with the participation of students, faculty members and non-teaching staff.
Prof. Ranjan formally flagged off the campaign and joined the participants in cleaning the Institute campus, its surrounding areas and the campus of the Senior Secondary School, setting the campaign in motion with a call for greater community participation in maintaining a clean and healthy environment.
Students, teaching staff and non-teaching employees took part in the cleanliness activities, removing waste and cleaning common areas and the surroundings of the institute and school campus.
The campaign also focused on creating awareness about environmental responsibility, personal hygiene and the importance of maintaining cleanliness in public and institutional spaces.
The initiative was aimed at making cleanliness a regular part of institutional life while encouraging students and staff to take greater responsibility for their immediate surroundings.
The Institute said the campaign reflected its commitment to cleanliness, environmental sustainability, civic responsibility and community participation, with the involvement of the CIBS community demonstrating a collective effort to incorporate cleanliness into everyday institutional practices.
The campaign also sought to sensitise students and staff about their responsibility towards preserving the natural environment and maintaining the cleanliness of Ladakh.
The CIBS administration reiterated its commitment to continue such initiatives and promote wider participation in cleanliness and environmental protection activities in the future.
