CISF bags 12 Gold, 8 Silver and 6 Bronze in Pencak Silat Federation Cup; finishes overall Runner-up

LEH: The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) finished overall runner-up at the 10th Pencak Silat Federation Cup 2026 in Leh, winning 26 medals, including 12 gold, eight silver and six bronze, at the three-day national championship.

The championship was held from September 19 to 21 at the NDS Indoor Stadium, Leh, and brought together more than 830 athletes from over 26 States and Union Territories, besides teams representing the CISF, SSB, ITBP and select Central and State police organisations.

CISF athletes produced an even spread of medals across the men’s and women’s categories. The men secured six gold, five silver and one bronze, taking their total to 12 medals, while the women won six gold, three silver and five bronze, accounting for 14 medals.

The overall championship title was won by J&K Police, while Odisha finished second runner-up.

The closing ceremony was attended by Sonam Tsering, President, Ladakh Pencak Silat Association, and Irfan Aziz, CEO, Indian Pencak Silat Federation, as Chief Guests.

The CISF contingent’s performance followed sustained training under coach Nand Lal Jaysawal, whose coaching has contributed to the development of the Force’s Pencak Silat squad.

The three-day championship featured Pencak Silat, a traditional Indonesian martial art and combat sport, with athletes competing across different categories.

The result adds to CISF’s performances in the sport this year. In July, CISF athlete Nidhi won a silver medal at the 10th Asian Pencak Silat Championship held in Dong Nai City, Vietnam, from July 15 to 23.

The Force had also won the Pencak Silat discipline at the 11th All India Police Judo Cluster Championship 2026 in Hyderabad.

The CISF said its performance in Leh reflected its continued emphasis on sports and physical fitness training for its personnel and efforts to develop sporting talent across disciplines. The championship brought together athletes from security forces, police organisations and States and Union Territories, providing a national platform for competitive Pencak Silat in Leh.
