NUBRA: Deputy Commissioner Nubra Mukul Beniwal, IAS, on Wednesday directed implementing agencies to remove pending bottlenecks and accelerate the execution of road infrastructure projects under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), while ensuring adherence to quality standards and completion within stipulated timelines.
Chairing a review meeting on PMGSY works in the district, the Deputy Commissioner undertook a comprehensive assessment of the physical and financial progress of ongoing road development projects and sought project-wise updates on implementation.
The review covered road upgradation and maintenance works on the Udmaru-Hunder, Tsokstot-Tsaking, Hunder Dok, Khungru-Kheema and Tsati-Rongdo stretches, besides internal road works at Sumoor. Restoration of roads damaged by floods also figured prominently during the meeting.
Officials of the PMGSY implementing agency briefed the Deputy Commissioner on the status of individual projects, outlining the pace of execution and challenges affecting progress at various locations.
Taking stock of the issues delaying execution, Beniwal instructed the concerned departments to address all pending impediments without delay so that works could proceed as scheduled. He stressed that coordination among executing agencies should be strengthened to prevent avoidable delays in project implementation.
The Deputy Commissioner further emphasised that while expediting construction, agencies must ensure strict compliance with prescribed quality standards so that the completed infrastructure delivers durable and reliable road connectivity to residents.
The meeting also reviewed the financial progress of works alongside their physical advancement, with particular attention given to ensuring that ongoing projects remain aligned with approved timelines.
The review forms part of the district administration’s continued oversight of rural road infrastructure under PMGSY, with an emphasis on improving connectivity, restoring flood-affected road links and ensuring efficient execution of development works across Nubra.
