KHALTSE: Deputy Commissioner, Sham, Kunzes Angmo, JKAS, on Friday reviewed the implementation and progress of schemes and development programmes of the Animal Husbandry Department, directing officials to strengthen field outreach and ensure that benefits reach livestock owners and farmers across the district.
The review meeting was held at the Conference Hall of the DC Office, Sham, where Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Dr Gulzar Hussain presented a detailed overview of departmental programmes through a PowerPoint presentation.
The presentation covered Centrally Sponsored Schemes, the Special Development Package, UT schemes and other departmental initiatives, with the department reporting on activities related to livestock development, animal healthcare, vaccination, dairy development, fodder management, artificial insemination and breed improvement.
The Deputy Commissioner reviewed the physical and financial progress of the schemes and sought feedback from officials on the status of ongoing activities, achievements and implementation challenges.
Angmo directed officers to ensure effective execution of departmental schemes and undertake regular field visits to assess ground-level requirements and improve delivery of services to livestock owners and farmers.
She also stressed the need to strengthen outreach services so that eligible beneficiaries across the district are able to access government programmes and related assistance.
The Deputy Commissioner called for timely completion of ongoing developmental works and efficient utilisation of available resources. She also emphasised closer coordination among field-level functionaries and other departments involved in implementation.
The meeting also reviewed initiatives relating to Kisan Credit Card loans, livestock welfare and support measures for farmers and livestock owners.
Officials from the department attended the meeting, including Block Veterinary Officer Dr Stanzin Zadon, Mobile Veterinary Unit In-charge Dr Stanzin Tsela, Assistant Veterinary Officer Tsetan Tundup, senior veterinary pharmacists and veterinary pharmacists, besides the Chief Animal Husbandry Officer.
