DC Zanskar assures Land for Post Office Building in Padum

ZANSKAR: Deputy Commissioner Zanskar Omkar Rajender Gundage, IAS, has assured the Ladakh Postal Division that suitable land will be identified for construction of a permanent building for the Padum Post Office.

The assurance came during a meeting with Arvind Kher, Superintendent of Post Offices, Ladakh Postal Division, who visited the Padum Sub Post Office to assess the existing postal facilities and review the delivery of services in the Zanskar region.

During his visit, Kher called on the Deputy Commissioner and briefed him on various schemes and services being offered by India Post to residents of the newly formed Zanskar district, including people living in far-flung areas.

Kher informed the Deputy Commissioner that the Padum Post Office is currently operating from a rented building, and stressed the need for a permanent facility to support postal operations and improve service delivery in the region.

He also sought proper allotment of land for the proposed permanent postal building.

Responding to the request, DC Zanskar assured that suitable land for postal services would be identified at the earliest.

The proposed permanent facility is expected to provide a more suitable base for postal operations in Padum and support the expansion and delivery of India Post services as the newly formed district develops its administrative and public service infrastructure.

Kher thanked the Deputy Commissioner for his cooperation and emphasised the need to further improve postal services and their reach across Zanskar, particularly in remote and far-flung areas.

The visit also provided an opportunity to review the existing postal infrastructure and discuss measures required to strengthen access to India Post schemes and services for residents of the region.
