ZANSKAR: Deputy Commissioner, Zanskar, Omkar Rajendra Gundage, directed district officers to ensure timely execution of developmental works, improve public service delivery and maintain administrative discipline while keeping the welfare of residents at the forefront during a review meeting held in Padum on Tuesday.
Gundage chaired the meeting of district officers at the Dak Bungalow Conference Hall, Padum, to discuss the submission of proposals under untied grants and review the overall functioning of various departments in the newly established district.
Heads of departments apprised the Deputy Commissioner of issues concerning their respective departments and sought administrative intervention for their timely resolution.
Emphasising inter-departmental coordination, the DC called upon officers to work in a coordinated manner to ensure timely implementation of developmental works and effective delivery of public services.
He also directed all officers to maintain administrative discipline and submit their Monthly Progress Reports (MPRs), monthly minutes of meetings chaired by their respective Heads of Departments (HoDs), and monthly leave accounts within the prescribed timelines.
Stressing the need for efficient and transparent functioning, Gundage directed all Heads of Departments to discharge their responsibilities with dedication, sincerity and honesty, with the interests and welfare of the people of Zanskar guiding their work.
He underscored the collective responsibility of the district administration in strengthening the newly established district and called for coordinated efforts towards effective implementation of government programmes and development initiatives.
The Deputy Commissioner further called upon officers to work towards establishing Zanskar as a model district in the Union Territory of Ladakh, with emphasis on responsive governance, timely execution of works and improved public service delivery.
The meeting concluded with directions to the concerned departments to follow up on the issues raised and ensure timely action on the decisions taken during the meeting.
