DIET Leh begins revision of Bhoti Textbooks for Classes III onwards

LEH: The District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Leh has launched a six-day workshop to revise and reframe Bhoti language textbooks for students of Class III onwards, with the exercise aimed at strengthening mother-tongue education in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework (NCF).

The workshop, being held from July 6 to 11, has brought together members of the Bhoti Textbook Core Committee, comprising academicians, subject experts and experienced teachers, to review, revise and finalise draft textbooks through collaborative discussions.

The initiative follows directions issued by the Secretary, School Education Department, Union Territory of Ladakh, during the launch of Bhoti textbooks up to Class II on December 5, 2025, in the presence of the Director, School Education Department, and the Chief Education Officer, Leh.

According to DIET Leh, the revision process focuses on developing learner-centric, culturally relevant and pedagogically sound textbooks while ensuring alignment with the objectives of NEP 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework.

The workshop is expected to strengthen Bhoti language education by improving curriculum content and making instructional material more responsive to the educational and cultural needs of students across Ladakh.

The Principal, DIET Leh, acknowledged the support extended by the Chief Education Officer, Leh, and appreciated the contribution of the Core Committee members for their efforts in advancing Bhoti language education in the Union Territory.
