KARGIL: Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd. Jaffer Akhoon, on Wednesday reviewed healthcare services at Qamar Ali Akhone Memorial Hospital, directing the hospital administration to continue strengthening patient care while assuring sustained efforts to improve medical facilities across the district.
During the visit, the CEC inspected various hospital facilities, assessed patient care arrangements and interacted with patients admitted to the hospital. He also met three labourers associated with Project Vijayak, who sustained injuries after suffering an electric shock during an earthing incident at the Project Vijayak Headquarters amid rainy weather. Doctors informed him that all three workers were out of danger and responding well to treatment.
Reviewing healthcare delivery, Dr. Akhoon directed hospital authorities to maintain quality medical services and continue improving patient care through efficient service delivery. He acknowledged the efforts of doctors, nurses and paramedical staff in enhancing healthcare facilities at the district’s premier medical institution.
Speaking to Akashvani News, the CEC said complaints relating to hospital services had declined considerably owing to continuous improvements in infrastructure and service delivery. He, however, maintained that any complaint regarding the behaviour of hospital staff would be dealt with seriously and appropriate action would be taken wherever required.
Highlighting recent improvements, Dr. Akhoon said the hospital now offers a 24×7 patient lounge, upgraded infrastructure and free diagnostic facilities, including advanced investigations. He added that the Outpatient Department (OPD) operates from 9 am to 3 pm, while winter timings are 9.30 am to 3 pm, making healthcare services more accessible for patients travelling from remote parts of Kargil district.
Referring to the recent electrocution incident, the CEC urged residents to remain vigilant during the monsoon season, avoid unnecessary travel during adverse weather and strictly adhere to electrical safety precautions to prevent accidents.
Appealing to the public to support the hospital’s upkeep, he urged visitors and patients to maintain cleanliness and use public facilities, including washrooms, responsibly, describing the hospital as a shared public asset.
Dr. Akhoon reaffirmed the district administration’s commitment to further strengthening healthcare infrastructure and ensuring accessible, quality medical care for residents across Kargil.
