DRASS: Continuing its drive against drug trafficking in Ladakh, Police Station Drass on Tuesday arrested a man after recovering a charas-like substance during a routine naka checking operation conducted near Drass Market.
According to a police, the naka party intercepted a taxi for inspection at a short distance ahead of Drass Market. During the search, police recovered a small quantity of charas-like substance concealed beneath the vehicle’s floor mat. The accused has been identified as Zameer Ahmed Sheikh, a resident of Sheikh Mohalla, Zakura, Hazratbal, Srinagar.
Following the recovery, FIR No. 29/2026 has been registered at Police Station Drass under Section 8/20 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and further investigation into the case is underway.
The latest seizure is part of the intensified anti-narcotics enforcement being carried out by Ladakh Police across the Union Territory to prevent the movement and circulation of illegal drugs, particularly along key transit routes.
