First Civil-Military Liaison Conference held in Nubra District; DC calls for closer coordination

NUBRA: Calling for closer and timely coordination among the civil administration, police and security forces, Deputy Commissioner Nubra Mukul Beniwal, IAS, on Friday stressed the need for seamless communication to address security concerns, disaster situations and issues affecting public welfare in the border district.

Beniwal made the remarks while chairing the first Civil-Military Liaison Conference of Nubra district, which brought together senior representatives of the Army, Air Force, police, civil administration and other agencies to discuss border security, communication, disaster management and public welfare.

The conference reviewed a range of operational and public-facing issues, with SSP Nubra Stanzin Losal, JKPS, briefing participants on border security and surveillance, civil-military communication, traffic and convoy management, and timely sharing of information regarding road closures and movement restrictions.

Issues relating to tourism, disaster response, communication and connectivity, drug trafficking and other security concerns were also discussed, underscoring the need for coordinated action among agencies operating in the strategically sensitive region.

The Deputy Commissioner also called for stronger coordination in the implementation of government programmes, including the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, Swachh Bharat Mission, Bulk Waste Generator management and TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.

Appreciating the cooperation extended by the participating agencies so far, Beniwal stressed the importance of maintaining timely communication and building on the existing coordination mechanism to ensure a prompt response to emerging challenges.

The District Administration was also appreciated during the meeting for its prompt intervention in addressing land-related issues.

The conference concluded with the participating agencies reaffirming their commitment to sustain and strengthen coordination on security, disaster management, public welfare and other matters requiring joint intervention.

Senior officers and representatives from the Army, Air Force, Police, Civil Administration, ITBP, SB Disket, ex-servicemen and other concerned departments and agencies attended the conference.
