GDC Drass holds NSS orientation, encourages Students to join community service initiatives

DRASS: Government Degree College (GDC) Drass on Wednesday organised a National Service Scheme (NSS) Enrolment-cum-Orientation Programme, encouraging students to enrol as volunteers and participate in community service, environmental conservation and nation-building initiatives during the academic session.

The programme, held in the college seminar hall, was organised under the guidance of NSS Convener Prof. Tsewang Gialtsen and members of the NSS Committee, with the objective of familiarising first, third and fifth semester students with the aims and activities of the National Service Scheme.

Welcoming the participants, Shujat Ali, Assistant Professor of Commerce, highlighted the importance of student participation in extracurricular and community-based initiatives. The NSS Convener subsequently outlined the objectives of the National Service Scheme, emphasising its role in fostering leadership, social responsibility, volunteerism and personality development through meaningful engagement with society.

Addressing the gathering, Principal M.N.M. Shabani underlined the value of the National Service Scheme in shaping responsible citizens and urged students to make full use of the opportunities offered by the programme for their personal growth and social contribution.

The orientation programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, many of whom were encouraged to register as NSS volunteers and contribute to the college’s social welfare, environmental protection and community outreach activities.

Reaffirming its commitment to youth development, the NSS Unit of Government Degree College Drass stated that it would continue organising regular activities throughout the academic session to promote the values of selfless service, civic responsibility, environmental stewardship and active citizenship among students.
