DRASS: Government Degree College (GDC) Drass has commenced a week-long workshop under the PM-USHA Gender Inclusive Equity Initiative Scheme, bringing together students for training in women leadership, life skills, stop-motion animation, and menstrual health and hygiene as part of an effort to promote holistic learning and gender inclusion.
The workshop, being organised from July 13 to 18 in collaboration with Charkha Development Communication Network, New Delhi, seeks to equip students with leadership abilities, creative skills and greater awareness of health and gender issues through interactive and experiential learning.
The programme was inaugurated on the college campus on July 13, with 30 students registering for the two workshops. The inaugural session began with a welcome address by the Principal, who welcomed resource persons Agyat Mitra and Swati Bhatt, Peace Education and Creative Learning Facilitators from Play for Peace, Pune, along with Nitin and Ananya, Programme Managers from Charkha Development Communication Network.
Addressing the participants, the Principal highlighted the objectives of the PM-USHA initiative and underscored the importance of such programmes in nurturing leadership qualities, strengthening essential life skills, encouraging creativity and promoting health awareness among students. He urged participants to actively engage in the sessions and make full use of the learning opportunities offered during the workshop.
Introducing the programme, Programme Manager Ananya outlined the structure and objectives of the workshop, explaining that the sessions on women leadership, life skills, stop-motion animation, and menstrual health and hygiene were designed to build self-confidence, foster creative thinking, enhance leadership capabilities and improve awareness of personal health and well-being.
The inaugural session was conducted by Archo Fatima Nissa, a member of the PM-USHA committee, who thanked the resource persons, participants and organising committee for their support and expressed hope that the week-long programme would provide an enriching learning experience for students.
The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, reflecting a strong interest in developing leadership skills, creative expression and awareness of gender equity and health-related issues through practical and participatory learning.
