LEH: An awareness programme on the ban on single-use plastic (SUP) and littering was organised in Hanle on Monday to educate residents, shopkeepers and other stakeholders about the environmental impact of plastic waste and the need for sustainable waste management practices.
The programme was conducted under the supervision of Naib Tehsildar Hanle, Ms Kunzes Dolma, with a focus on promoting environmental responsibility and encouraging the adoption of eco-friendly alternatives to single-use plastic products.
During the session, participants were briefed on the provisions related to the ban on single-use plastic items and sensitised about the long-term ecological consequences of indiscriminate plastic use and littering. The programme also highlighted the importance of waste segregation, scientific waste management and responsible disposal methods to preserve the region’s fragile ecosystem.
Addressing the gathering, Ms Kunzes Dolma urged citizens to actively support environmental conservation initiatives by reducing plastic consumption and maintaining cleanliness in public spaces. She stressed that community participation remains essential in safeguarding the natural environment and ensuring sustainable development.
The programme concluded with an appeal to residents and stakeholders to adopt environmentally responsible lifestyles and contribute towards preserving Hanle’s ecological heritage through collective action and sustainable living practices.
