HANLE: To mark International Moon Day, the Fire and Fury Gunners organised an educational visit for students of Hanle Primary School to the Indian Astronomical Observatory, Hanle, introducing them to astronomy and space science through an interactive learning experience at one of the world’s highest astronomical observatories.
The outreach programme, held on July 20, provided the students with an opportunity to explore astronomical research facilities and gain insights into the study of the Moon, stars and the wider universe.
According to the organisers, the initiative was aimed at nurturing scientific curiosity and encouraging young students to develop an interest in astronomy and space science through direct exposure to one of India’s premier astronomical research centres.
Situated in the high-altitude region of Hanle, the Indian Astronomical Observatory is internationally recognised for its favourable conditions for astronomical observations, making it an ideal venue for science outreach programmes.
The organisers said the visit sought to inspire students to pursue scientific learning while fostering a spirit of curiosity and exploration among children growing up in one of the world’s highest inhabited regions.
