JAMMU/SRINAGAR: The Bharat Tibet Sahyog Manch (BTSM), Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh, has welcomed the appointment of senior leader Harjit Singh Grewal as the Chairperson of the National Commission for Minorities (NCM), with its State Secretary Mushtaq Ahmad Khanday describing the decision as recognition of Grewal’s long-standing public service and leadership.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Khanday congratulated Grewal, who also serves as an advisor to the Bharat Tibet Sahyog Manch and had earlier held the position of National Working President of the organisation.
He said Grewal’s appointment reflected the confidence reposed in his leadership and vision, expressing hope that under his stewardship the National Commission for Minorities would further strengthen constitutional and statutory safeguards for minority communities while promoting national unity, mutual trust and inclusive development.
Describing Grewal as a seasoned leader with extensive grassroots experience, Khanday said his distinguished record of public service and commitment to social harmony would contribute to strengthening the Commission’s role in addressing the concerns and aspirations of minority communities across the country.
He further said Grewal’s commitment to the values of equality, justice and social cohesion would help the Commission discharge its responsibilities effectively.
On behalf of the Bharat Tibet Sahyog Manch, Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh, Khanday extended his best wishes to Grewal for a successful tenure as Chairperson of the National Commission for Minorities and expressed confidence that he would uphold the constitutional ideals of fairness, impartiality and public service while carrying out his responsibilities.
