Kargil BJP delegation meets B L Santhosh, seeks Kargil-based High Court Hearings

LEH: A BJP delegation from Kargil has sought the intervention of the party’s national leadership for cases pertaining to Kargil and Drass to be heard at Kargil by the High Court Bench of Ladakh, citing the difficulties and logistical burden faced by litigants travelling from the two areas.

The demand was the key issue raised during the delegation’s meeting with BJP National General Secretary (Organisation) B L Santhosh in Leh on Tuesday. The delegation, led by BJP State Vice President Haji Anayat Ali, urged Santhosh to take up the matter with the appropriate authorities.

According to a BJP statement, Santhosh responded positively and assured the delegation that the concerns would be duly considered and that the matter would be taken up with the concerned authorities for further examination.

The delegation included BJP Kargil district president Assadullah Munshi, Nominated Councillor and Kargil Bar Association president Advocate Reyaz Khan, and BJYM Kargil president Advocate Mohd Hassanain Rocky. Former Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor of LAHDC-Leh, Advocate Tashi Gyalson, was also present at the meeting.

The demand for a Kargil-based hearing of cases concerning Kargil and Drass was presented as a matter of accessibility for litigants, with the delegation drawing attention to the difficulties involved in accessing judicial proceedings from the two areas.

The meeting also saw the delegation thank Santhosh for his support for the creation of Sankoo as a separate BJP organisational district. The delegation described the move as significant for strengthening the BJP’s organisational presence and grassroots outreach in the region.
