Ladakh Police hosts workshop on NCRP SOP and Cyber Fraud victim assistance

LEH: Police Headquarters (PHQ), Ladakh, on Wednesday organised a one-day workshop-cum-training programme to familiarise officers with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) governing the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCRP), with a focus on expediting cyber fraud investigations, grievance redressal and restoration of defrauded funds to victims.

The programme, held at PHQ, Leh, was attended by officers from Cyber Units and district police establishments, both in person and through video conferencing.

The training covered the Citizen Financial Cyber Fraud Reporting and Management System (CFCFRMS), the Money Restoration Module, custody of funds and the grievance redressal mechanism. Officers were briefed on procedures for processing cyber financial fraud complaints, adhering to prescribed timelines and coordinating with financial institutions to maximise recovery of money lost in online frauds.

A major focus of the workshop was the Money Restoration Module, which allows the restoration of up to ₹50,000 held in a single bank account directly to a victim based on a police report and an indemnity bond, without the registration of an FIR or a court order, provided the conditions laid down under the SOP are fulfilled.

The participants were also trained on the grievance redressal mechanism and the use of the Samanvaya CIAR Module for issuing notices to account holders and aggrieved persons. Interactive sessions enabled officers from different districts to clarify operational issues and develop a uniform understanding of the newly introduced modules.

According to Ladakh Police, the workshop forms part of its ongoing capacity-building initiative to strengthen cybercrime investigation and improve victim assistance through technology-driven solutions. The department said the adoption of the new NCRP modules is expected to ensure faster grievance redressal, improve transparency and facilitate timely restoration of defrauded funds, reinforcing a more citizen-centric approach to combating cyber financial fraud.
