LEH: The University of Ladakh will host a one-day National Seminar on “World Peace and Indian Philosophy: India’s Role in Global Peace and Cultural Values” at its Leh Campus on June 25, bringing together eminent scholars, policymakers and dignitaries to deliberate on the relevance of Indian philosophical traditions in addressing contemporary global challenges.
The seminar aims to highlight India’s enduring intellectual and spiritual heritage and its role in promoting peace, harmony, sustainable development and intercultural understanding. It seeks to provide a platform for meaningful dialogue among academicians, researchers, educators and students on the contribution of Indian thought to global peace and cultural values.
Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Vinai Kumar Saxena, who is also the Chancellor of the University of Ladakh, will preside over the event. The welcome address will be delivered by Vice Chancellor Prof. Saket Kushwaha, while Prof. Narsi Ram Bishnoi, Vice Chancellor of Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar, will present the concept note. The keynote address will be delivered by Dr. Indresh Kumar, Member of the National Executive of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Patron of Himalaya Parivar.
Union Minister for Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat will attend the seminar as the Chief Guest. Kavinder Gupta, Governor of Himachal Pradesh, will be the Guest of Honour, while Vasudev Devnani, Speaker of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly, will participate as the Distinguished Guest.
The programme will include keynote lectures, thematic sessions, panel discussions and a cultural presentation showcasing Ladakh’s rich traditions and heritage. Deliberations will focus on the role of Indian philosophy, ethics, education and cultural values in fostering social harmony, environmental responsibility and international cooperation.
By bringing together experts from diverse disciplines, the University of Ladakh hopes to strengthen academic discourse on peace studies, encourage interdisciplinary research and inspire constructive engagement with India’s philosophical traditions in the context of present-day global challenges.
The seminar will commence at 9:30 am on June 25, with the University extending an invitation to academicians, researchers, students and the public to participate in what is being billed as a significant national event dedicated to the pursuit of a more peaceful and harmonious world.
