LEH: Police Station Leh has initiated proceedings under Section 68F of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, and seized movable assets valued at Rs 2 lakh that police said were acquired from proceeds of illicit drug trade in a case involving a person named in multiple NDPS cases.
The seized assets include two motorcycles and six push carts, which police said were linked to the alleged illegal activities. The action was initiated against Kundan Sah, son of Ban Bari Sah, a resident of Mahadha village in Bihar and presently residing at Chuchot Yokma, Leh.
According to police, an inquiry into the assets of the accused established that certain movable properties had been acquired from proceeds of illicit drug-related activities. The properties were consequently seized under Section 68F of the NDPS Act.
Police cited two earlier NDPS cases in which the accused was allegedly involved. In FIR No. 162/2025 registered at Police Station Leh under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act, police said 960 grams of ganja was recovered from his possession.
In another case, FIR No. 01/2026 registered at Police Station Khaltsi under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act, police said 955 grams of ganja was recovered from a co-accused who was allegedly transporting the contraband to the accused named in the present proceedings.
The latest action extends the police response beyond the alleged possession or movement of contraband to assets that investigators said were connected with proceeds of illicit drug activity.
District Police Leh said the action forms part of its efforts to curb drug trafficking and target networks involved in the illegal drug trade. The police also appealed to the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies in efforts to combat drug-related activities in Ladakh.
