Major reshuffle in Police deptt; 14 IPS, JKPS officers transferred

Pawan Kumar posted as SP Sankoo, Rishabh Shukla to head Changthang; Altaf Ahmad Shah gets additional charge of SP Traffic

LEH: The Ladakh Administration on Tuesday ordered a major reshuffle in the police department, transferring and assigning new responsibilities to 14 IPS and JKPS officers, including key postings in the newly created Sankoo district, Changthang, Zanskar, Nubra and Leh.

The transfers and postings were ordered with immediate effect through Order No. 88-Home of 2026, issued by the Home Department today.

Pawan Kumar, IPS, has been posted as Superintendent of Police (SP), Sankoo, following the creation of the new district. Kumar was previously holding the charges of SP Traffic, SP Security and SP Telecom.

Rishabh Shukla, IPS, has been posted as SP, Changthang, replacing his previous assignment as Deputy Superintendent of Police (Dy SP), Headquarters, District Leh. Meanwhile, Stanzin Norboo, JKPS, has been posted as Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Zanskar, from his earlier position as AIG Provision at Police Headquarters, Ladakh.

In another important change, Altaf Ahmad Shah, IPS, will continue as Commandant, IRP 25th Battalion, while also taking charge as SP Traffic. He was already holding the additional charge of Principal, Police Training School (PTS), Ladakh.

Rajneesh Garg, IPS, has been assigned the charges of AIG Personnel and AIG Crime/Welfare, PHQ, relinquishing his earlier assignment as AIG Civil/Crime/Welfare, PHQ, UT of Ladakh.

Stanzin Losal, JKPS, will continue as SP, Nubra, but will relinquish the additional charge of SSP, CID, Ladakh. Sonam Dechen, JKPS, has been posted as SSP, CID, from his earlier position as AIG Personnel/Training, PHQ, Ladakh.

Zaheer Abbas Jafari, JKPS, has been transferred from SP, Changthang, where he was also holding the additional charge of SSP Prisons, Ladakh. He has been posted as SP Security/SP Telecom, with the additional charge of SP Prisons.

Koyye Chitti Raju, IPS, has been posted as Dy SP Headquarters, Leh, from Police Headquarters, Ladakh. Stanzin Sandup, JKPS, who was serving as SP, Zanskar, has been assigned as AIG Provision.

In other changes, Aijaz Ahmad Malik, JKPS, will continue as SP, Sham, but without the additional charge of Staff Officer to the Director General of Police (DGP), Ladakh, and SP Headquarters/Central Division.

Govind Rattan, JKPS, has been transferred from the post of Deputy Commandant, IRP 25th Battalion, where he was also holding the additional charge of SP Headquarters/Cyber and Social Media-related responsibilities, to Deputy Commandant, IRP 25th Battalion, with additional charge as Staff Officer to the DGP and AIG Civil, besides SP SDRF.

At the police station and CID level, Manzoor Hussain has been posted as Dy SP CID, Leh, from his earlier assignment as SHO, Police Station Leh. Sonam Regzin, JKPS, has been posted as Dy SP Civil Police, from Dy SP CID, Leh.
