Mobile Passport Seva Camp for Haj Aspirants held in Kargil; 120 appointments scheduled

KARGIL: A three-day Special Mobile Passport Seva Camp has commenced in Kargil to facilitate passport-related services for intending Haj pilgrims of Haj 2027, in a joint initiative of the Haj Committee, Union Territory of Ladakh, and the District Administration, Kargil.

The camp, which began on July 13, has been organised to streamline passport processing for Haj aspirants from the district, reducing the need for applicants to travel outside Kargil to complete passport formalities.

A total of 120 passport appointments have been scheduled under the camp, with 40 applicants being attended to each day over three designated sessions.

Chairman of the Haj Committee, UT Ladakh, Ghulam Abbas Abidi, along with members of the committee, acknowledged the support extended by the District Administration, particularly Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Kumar, IAS, for facilitating the organisation of the camp. They also expressed appreciation to Regional Passport Officer, Srinagar, B. S. Rawat, for coordinating the deployment of the Mobile Passport Seva facility in Kargil.

The Haj Committee said the initiative reflects the coordinated efforts of the district administration and the Passport Office to make passport services more accessible to prospective pilgrims and ensure timely completion of documentation ahead of the Haj pilgrimage.

Reaffirming its commitment to assisting intending pilgrims, the committee said it would continue to extend all possible support to Haj applicants while working in coordination with the concerned departments to facilitate the pilgrimage process.
