Kargil, Jul 16: Member of Parliament from Ladakh, Haji Mohd Haneefa Jan, on Thursday chaired the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting for 2026–27, directing departments to strengthen monitoring, improve public awareness and ensure timely implementation of Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS) across Kargil district.
The meeting, held at the Conference Hall in Baroo, was attended by Deputy Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer, LAHDC Kargil, Rakesh Kumar (IAS), LAHDC Councillor Feroz Ahmed Khan, representatives of civil society, senior citizens, Scheduled Tribes and youth, besides district officers and committee members.
Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Kumar presented a detailed review of the implementation status of major Centrally Sponsored Schemes and flagship programmes in the district. The schemes reviewed included the Jal Jeevan Mission, PM Awas Yojana (Urban and Grameen), Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban and Grameen), Viksit Bharat–GRAMIN Abhiyan, PM Surya Ghar Yojana, PM Vishwakarma, PM Matsya Sampada Yojana, PM Jan Arogya Yojana, National Health Mission, PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, PM SVANidhi, Kisan Credit Card, Poshan 2.0, PMGSY and the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture, among others.
During the meeting, the MP directed the Public Health Engineering Department to furnish block-wise lists of Jal Jeevan Mission projects to DISHA Committee members to facilitate effective monitoring. He also instructed the Rural Development Department, Municipal Committee Kargil and other implementing departments to submit beneficiary lists of all flagship and Centrally Sponsored Schemes.
The Executive Engineer, PMGSY, was directed to provide detailed reports on ongoing and completed road works executed under the programme.
Emphasising greater public outreach, Haneefa Jan instructed the Health, Horticulture, Fisheries and Rural Development departments to intensify awareness campaigns so that eligible residents are fully informed about the benefits and eligibility criteria of government schemes.
He further directed all implementing departments and executing agencies to achieve scheme saturation within the stipulated timelines during the current financial year and ensure that every eligible beneficiary is covered under Government of India welfare programmes.
