MY Bharat Kargil organises environmental outreach, cleanliness drive at KGBV Chiktan

KARGIL: MY Bharat Kargil organised a cleanliness and plantation drive at Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV), Chiktan, along with an environmental awareness session, as part of the Seva Pakhwada initiative.

The programme focused on promoting cleanliness, environmental protection and responsible waste management among students, while encouraging young people to take an active role in maintaining healthy and greener surroundings.

MY Bharat volunteers cleaned the school and hostel premises during the cleanliness drive and highlighted the importance of maintaining hygiene and sanitation in educational institutions.

A plantation drive was subsequently conducted to encourage students and volunteers to contribute to creating greener surroundings. The activity also sought to foster greater awareness among students about the role of plantation in protecting the environment.

An environmental awareness session was also held during the programme, sensitising students to environmental protection, cleanliness, waste management and the need for individual responsibility in safeguarding nature.

The session stressed that environmental protection requires responsible practices at the individual and community levels, with young people having an important role in promoting cleanliness and sustainable habits in their surroundings.

Students participated in the activities alongside MY Bharat volunteers, reinforcing the message of community participation and civic responsibility.

The programme was organised with the broader objective of promoting the spirit of selfless service among youth under Seva Pakhwada and encouraging them to contribute to the well-being of their communities through practical action.

The initiative combined cleanliness, plantation and environmental education, giving students an opportunity to participate directly in activities aimed at improving their immediate surroundings while building awareness about responsible waste management and environmental conservation.
