Nasha Mukt Abhiyan: Awareness rally calls for community action against drug abuse

CHIKTAN: Government Model Middle School (GMMS) Zgang Chiktan on Sunday organised a community outreach rally under the Nasha Mukt Abhiyan, mobilising students, teachers and local residents in an awareness campaign against substance abuse and addiction.

Held under the supervision of Headmaster Ali Jaffar, the rally traversed through the village before culminating at Police Post Chiktan, carrying messages focused on prevention of drug abuse and promotion of a healthy lifestyle among youth.

Students and staff members participated enthusiastically in the campaign, carrying placards and raising awareness slogans highlighting the social and health consequences of substance abuse. The rally sought to sensitise residents to the growing need for collective vigilance against the use and circulation of intoxicating substances.

During the outreach programme, teachers and staff members interacted with local residents and shopkeepers, urging them not to sell tobacco products, intoxicants or other harmful substances, particularly to school-going children and adolescents. Participants also stressed the responsibility of the community in safeguarding young people from exposure to addictive substances.

Addressing residents during the campaign, school staff highlighted the adverse impact of addiction on health, education and family life, warning that substance abuse can undermine both individual well-being and social stability. Shopkeepers were advised to strictly comply with laws governing the sale of regulated products and to cooperate in efforts aimed at protecting young people from harmful influences.

Organisers said the campaign was intended to strengthen community awareness, encourage public participation in anti-drug initiatives and create a safer environment for children and youth.

The programme concluded with participants taking a pledge to support the vision of a drug-free society and continue spreading awareness about the dangers of substance abuse across the region.
