Nubra holds Special Gram Sabhas to identify local development priorities

NUBRA: A Special Gram Sabha programme was held across Diskit, Panamik, Lakjung and Turtuk in Nubra on Friday under the People’s Plan Campaign, providing villagers a platform to identify local development priorities, raise public service concerns and discuss the implementation of government schemes.

At Diskit, SDM Nubra Mohd Safdar Bhat (JKAS) attended the programme as the Nodal Officer, while similar Gram Sabha programmes were conducted at the other three locations under the supervision of their respective Nodal Officers.

Representatives of various line departments interacted with residents and apprised them of government schemes, welfare programmes and public services available to eligible beneficiaries. Information was provided on eligibility criteria, benefits and procedures for availing the schemes.

Health camps and other essential services were also made available during the programmes, enabling residents to access services alongside the awareness and public interaction sessions.

The Gram Sabhas witnessed active participation from villagers, who raised demands, suggestions and grievances concerning developmental works and public service delivery in their respective areas.

The issues brought before the authorities were recorded for necessary action and follow-up by the concerned departments, according to the administration.

The programme sought to strengthen participatory planning at the grassroots level by bringing government departments and local residents together to identify needs and improve coordination in the implementation of development and welfare programmes.

The exercise also focused on timely grievance redressal, effective delivery of government schemes and people-centric planning, with local inputs being incorporated into the process of identifying development priorities across the four villages.
