LEH: The Health Department of the Union Territory of Ladakh organised a street play at Leh Market on Tuesday to raise public awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse and encourage young people to lead a drug-free life.
Around 22 students of Boys Higher Secondary School, Leh, participated in the awareness programme organised under the Nasha Mukt Bharat campaign, using street theatre to convey the risks associated with drug use and its impact on individuals and society.
The students highlighted the harmful consequences of substance abuse and urged the public, particularly the youth, to stay away from drugs and make healthier choices.
The programme sought to take the anti-drug message directly to the public through a student-led performance in a busy market setting, with emphasis on prevention, awareness and the role of young people in promoting a healthier society.
Deputy Director, Health Services, UT Ladakh, Dr Dolma Chuskit, and Chief Medical Officer, Leh, Dr Rinchen Chosdol, were present during the programme.
The health officials appreciated the students for their participation and efforts to spread awareness about the dangers of substance abuse and the importance of maintaining a drug-free lifestyle.
