NYOMA: The Nyoma administration has intensified enforcement of the ban on single-use plastics, with Naib Tehsildar Feroz Ahmad Khan leading a special inspection drive across the market area and imposing penalties on commercial establishments found violating environmental regulations.
The drive focused on ensuring compliance with the prohibition on banned single-use plastic items while also reviewing waste disposal practices to curb littering and improve sanitation in public spaces.
During the inspection, several commercial establishments were checked for adherence to the prescribed norms. Officials imposed fines on violators under the relevant provisions, reinforcing the administration’s ongoing campaign to promote environmental sustainability and responsible waste management.
Feroz Ahmad Khan appealed to shopkeepers, residents and visitors to discontinue the use of banned plastic items and adopt environmentally sustainable alternatives. He also urged the public to maintain cleanliness by avoiding littering in markets and other public places.
The Naib Tehsildar said enforcement drives would continue on a regular basis to ensure effective implementation of the ban. He warned that strict action would be taken against individuals or establishments found using prohibited single-use plastics or violating waste management norms.
The administration said the initiative forms part of its sustained efforts to encourage environmentally responsible practices and preserve the ecological balance of the region through stricter enforcement and greater public awareness.
