Phay residents thank BJP Chief Khachu for resolving Long-pending Canal issue

LEH: Residents of Phay village have expressed gratitude to BJP Ladakh State President Tashi Gyaltsen Khachu for his intervention in resolving the village’s long-pending head canal issue, which had disrupted irrigation and affected agricultural activities for several years.

According to a press release issued by the Nambardar of Phay village, the canal had been facing recurring blockages, leading to repeated interruptions in the flow of irrigation water and creating hardships for farmers during every cultivation season.

The villagers stated that following representations made by the community, Tashi Gyaltsen Khachu took up the matter with the concerned authorities. Acting on his intervention, the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) extended cooperation in facilitating the relocation of the head canal to what was described as a more suitable alignment.

The relocation of the canal has reportedly addressed the recurring blockage problem, allowing uninterrupted water flow for irrigation. Villagers said the development is expected to improve irrigation facilities and ease the difficulties faced by farmers during cultivation.

The press release also acknowledged the support extended by the Divisional Forest Officer in executing the relocation work. The villagers appreciated the coordinated efforts of the authorities in resolving an issue that had remained pending for years.

Concluding the statement, the people of Phay conveyed their appreciation to Tashi Gyaltsen Khachu for taking up the matter with the administration and thanked the Forest Department for its cooperation in carrying out the necessary work.
