LEH: A mental health and emotional well-being awareness programme was held at PM SHRI Government Middle School, Nimoo, on September 12, with activity-based sessions helping students understand emotions, manage stress and develop healthy coping strategies.
The programme was organised under the Health and Medical Department, Ladakh, and was designed to make mental health education accessible and engaging for schoolchildren.
Students participated in interactive activities aimed at helping them recognise and express their emotions, manage everyday stress and build positive relationships with peers.
A dedicated session was conducted by Clinical Psychologist Sajjad, who addressed issues related to the emotional and psychological well-being of children. Students were encouraged to understand and communicate their feelings openly and were made aware of the importance of seeking support when experiencing emotional or psychological difficulties.
Three counsellors also conducted interactive and participatory sessions, focusing on communication, emotional expression, peer support and positive coping mechanisms.
The programme sought to strengthen awareness of mental health among children while encouraging an environment in which students can discuss their concerns, seek appropriate support and develop healthy emotional habits.
The activity-based format was intended to help students engage with mental health concepts in a manner suited to their age and learning environment, while reinforcing the importance of emotional well-being as part of overall child development.
