LEH: The District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Leh, on Tuesday welcomed S.D. Namgial as its new Principal during a formal ceremony that also featured the presentation of the institution’s annual academic achievements, a review of its Samagra Shiksha budget and the introduction of newly inducted staff members.
Held at the DIET Hall, the programme brought together faculty members, staff and invited guests, who expressed confidence in the new Principal’s leadership and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening school education and teacher development across Ladakh.
The ceremony began with a welcome address acknowledging the contributions of outgoing Principal Mirza Mehdi while extending greetings to Namgial on assuming charge. Faculty members assured him of their full cooperation in advancing the institute’s academic objectives.
A detailed presentation on budget allocations under the Samagra Shiksha scheme outlined plans for the effective utilisation of resources, with emphasis on teacher training, infrastructure development and innovative educational programmes. The presentation highlighted the institute’s focus on transparency, accountability and strategic planning in implementing educational initiatives.
DIET Leh also presented a comprehensive overview of its activities during the past year, including professional development programmes for teachers, research on local educational challenges and the development of teaching-learning materials designed to enhance classroom instruction and improve learning outcomes.
The event further marked the formal introduction of newly appointed staff members, whose induction was described as strengthening the institute’s academic and administrative capacity. Faculty members welcomed the new recruits and expressed optimism about their contribution to future programmes.
Concluding the programme, faculty and staff reiterated their collective commitment to working under the leadership of Principal S.D. Namgial to further DIET Leh’s vision of promoting quality education, innovation and the holistic development of children across Ladakh.
