SANKOO: With Muharram-ul-Haram approaching, the Sub-Divisional Administration Sankoo on Thursday reviewed preparedness measures and directed all concerned departments to ensure the uninterrupted provision of essential services and effective management of religious processions during the observance.
Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Sankoo, Shri Waseem Ramzan Dar, JKAS, chaired a coordination meeting at the Multipurpose Conference Hall, Sankoo, attended by councillors of Thangdumbur and Lankerchey, officers from various line departments, and representatives of religious organisations.
The meeting focused on finalising arrangements for the holy month, particularly for the 9th, 10th and 13th of Muharram, when major religious gatherings and processions are expected to draw large numbers of devotees.
During the deliberations, the SDM called for close inter-departmental coordination to ensure the timely availability of essential services and civic facilities. He invited suggestions from stakeholders and emphasised the need for comprehensive planning to facilitate the smooth conduct of religious events while minimising inconvenience to the public.
Officials from the Health Department, Power Development Department, Public Health Engineering, Food and Civil Supplies Department, Police and other agencies informed the meeting that necessary arrangements were being put in place and assured that required services would be available at designated locations well in advance.
To facilitate the orderly movement of processions, the SDM directed concerned departments to keep all designated routes free from encroachments and strictly enforce no-parking regulations, particularly on the peak days of observance. Officers concerned assured the administration that the directions would be implemented in letter and spirit. The meeting also stressed the importance of community participation in maintaining order during religious events. Religious leaders were urged to extend full cooperation to the administration and deploy volunteers to assist in crowd management, maintain discipline and support devotees during processions and gatherings.
