LEH: Sham District secured the top position in the Traditional Archery Tournament at the Ladakh Festival 2026, finishing with 132 points as archery teams representing seven districts of Ladakh competed at Shenam Gongma Ground in Leh.
Nubra District finished second with 114 points, while Changthang District secured the third position with 84 points.
Slanzin Chonjor of the Sham District team was adjudged the Top Archer, recording an individual score of 71 points. He was followed by Rinchen Namgail of the Nubra District team, who scored 64 points.
The tournament concluded on Monday as part of the ongoing Ladakh Festival 2026, bringing together archers from across the region to compete in the traditional sport.
The event was attended by Sanjit Rodrigues, IAS, Administrative Secretary, Tourism and Culture Department, UT Ladakh, and Tashi Dolma, JKAS, Director, Tourism, UT Ladakh, along with Lobzang Angchuk, President, Ladakh Archery Association, and members of the association.
The tournament formed part of the festival’s sporting and cultural programme, providing a platform for participants from different districts to showcase their skills in traditional archery.
