PADUM: Thousands of people took part in a Har Ghar Tiranga rally in Zanskar on Wednesday, turning the campaign into a large public display of the National Flag and drawing participation from government departments, educational institutions, civil society and community organisations.
The rally was organised under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Zanskar Omkar Rajendra Gundage and Superintendent of Police Zanskar Rigzin Sandup as part of the Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign 2026.
The procession began at 1.30 pm from the Sports Stadium near the Tourist Reception Centre in Padum and concluded at the Tourist Complex. Participants carried the Tricolour and raised patriotic slogans along the route.
Government employees, students, representatives of social and private organisations, religious bodies, political parties, civil society groups and other stakeholders joined the rally, giving the event a broad community character.
The administration described the participation as a reflection of public involvement in the campaign and an expression of national unity and pride.
Tourist Officer Zanskar Ghulam Rasool Lal, the nodal officer for the campaign, coordinated the arrangements with various departments and organisations.
The administration appreciated the participation of government agencies, educational institutions, volunteers, security personnel and residents who contributed to the conduct of the rally.
The event was part of a wider campaign aimed at encouraging households to display the National Flag and promoting public participation around Independence Day.
The large turnout in Padum also brought together sections of the community that often participate separately in public activities, with students, officials and civil society representatives sharing the same platform.
The campaign is being observed across Zanskar through public activities intended to encourage respect for the National Flag and reinforce the broader message of national unity.
