LEH: Members of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, Choedak Gyatso and Gonpo Dhundup, continued their official visit to the Sonamling Tibetan Settlement in Ladakh on June 25, holding a series of consultations with monasteries, community institutions and local representatives while reviewing issues concerning the welfare and administration of the Tibetan settlement.
Accompanied by Dhundup Tsering, Vice-Chair of the Local Tibetan Assembly, and Karma Rinchen, Secretary of the Chief Representative Office (CRO), the parliamentarians met representatives of religious institutions, healthcare services, community organisations and administrative bodies to assess local concerns and gather feedback on issues affecting the settlement.
As part of the visit, the delegation toured Karma Drubgyud Choeling Monastery, Yungdrung Lhatse Bon Monastery and Ruthog Lhundrup Choeding Monastery, before visiting the Chief Representative Office, the Local Tibetan Justice Commission, the Cooperative Office, the Health Centre, the Leh-Jang Regional Tibetan Freedom Movement (BRDL), the Department of Religion and Culture, and the Leh branch of the Men-Tsee-Khang.
The consultations concluded with an interactive session of nearly one-and-a-half hours at the Local Tibetan Assembly Hall, where members of the Standing Committee presented questions and representations on matters concerning the community. According to a statement, the parliamentarians addressed several issues raised by monasteries and organisations during the discussions, with some matters resolved during the meeting itself.
The remaining issues, the statement said, have been formally documented for submission to the Standing Committee of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile and the concerned departments for further examination and appropriate action.
