University of Ladakh Kargil Campus holds workshop on AI in PR, digital communication

KARGIL: The Department of Mass Communication and Journalism at the University of Ladakh, Kargil Campus, organised a one-day workshop on the growing use of Artificial Intelligence in public relations, research writing, press releases, advertising and digital communication.

Titled “Using Artificial Intelligence in Public Relations: Research Writing, Press Releases, Advertising and Digital Communication”, the workshop provided students with practical exposure to emerging technologies and their application in contemporary media and communication practices.

The workshop was held under the chief patronage of Prof. (Dr.) Saket Kushwaha, Vice-Chancellor, University of Ladakh, and the patronage of Dr. Mehboob Ali, In-Charge Administration, Kargil Campus, and Dr. Jaffar Ali Khan, Dean, Faculty of Arts, University of Ladakh.

Ms. Rana Jyoti, Senior Manager, International PR & Customer Advocacy, was the resource person. Drawing on her professional experience, she offered insights into the changing media and public relations landscape and explained how AI is increasingly being used in research writing, press release preparation, advertising and digital communication.

She also spoke about career opportunities in media and communication, stressing the need for creativity, professional adaptability and emerging technological skills to improve students’ employability.

The workshop included practical exercises, interactive discussions and a question-and-answer session, allowing students to connect classroom learning with contemporary professional practices.

Dr. Shriprakash Pal, Coordinator, Department of Mass Communication and Journalism and organiser of the workshop, welcomed and felicitated the resource person. Dr. Sonam Angmo, faculty member at the Kargil Campus, also attended the session.

The programme was anchored by final-year student Ms. Fatima Nissa. Dr. Vinit Vishal, Assistant Professor, Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, delivered the Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to the University authorities and all those associated with the organisation of the workshop.
