University of Ladakh to hold third Convocation in Leh in Oct 2026

LEH: The University of Ladakh will hold its third convocation ceremony in Leh in October 2026, with undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral scholars set to receive their degrees at the university’s annual academic gathering.

The university announced that the ceremony will be held under the patronage of Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh and Chancellor Vinai Kumar Saxena, with Chief Secretary Ashish Kundra, IAS, Pro-Chancellor of the university, and Vice-Chancellor Prof Saket Kushwaha overseeing the proceedings.

The exact date and venue of the convocation are yet to be notified.

Degrees will be formally conferred upon successful graduates from disciplines including Humanities, Sciences, Commerce, Management and Languages. Meritorious students and university toppers will also receive Gold Medals and special commendations for academic performance and research contributions.

The university said the convocation would bring together its academic community, graduating students, parents, local dignitaries and members of the wider society to mark the completion of academic programmes and recognise student achievements.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Saket Kushwaha said the convocation would represent the academic journey of students and faculty in the high-altitude region while reflecting the university’s stated focus on outcome-based education, research, innovation and sustainable development.

“Our vision remains rooted in delivering world-class, outcome-based education while preserving the ecological and cultural identity of Ladakh,” Kushwaha said.

He said graduating students would carry a responsibility to contribute to sustainable growth, innovation and community development in Leh, Kargil and beyond.

The university said the ceremony would incorporate elements of Ladakh’s cultural heritage alongside formal academic proceedings. Academic processions in regional attire, cultural presentations and participation by local dignitaries are planned as part of the event.

The third convocation comes as the University of Ladakh continues to serve students across the Union Territory through its academic programmes and research activities.

The university has appealed to graduating students, faculty members, parents, stakeholders and members of the public to extend cooperation for the conduct of the ceremony.

Details regarding the date, venue, list of graduating students, medal recipients and other ceremonial arrangements will be announced separately through the university’s official channels.
