LEH: The Voice of Buddhist Ladakh (VBL) has appealed to the Administration of the Union Territory of Ladakh to intervene and facilitate the reopening and extension of the online application portal for the recently advertised UPSC recruitment to Gazetted posts in the Union Territory.
In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary of Ladakh, Ashish Kundra, VBL Convener Skarma Namtak expressed concern that many eligible aspirants were unable to complete and submit their applications due to the limited period during which the online portal remained accessible. The organisation stated that the lengthy and time-consuming application process further compounded the problem, leaving several deserving candidates without an opportunity to apply within the stipulated deadline.
Describing the issue as a matter of fairness and equal opportunity, VBL urged the Chief Secretary to take up the matter with the concerned authorities and seek the reopening of the UPSC application portal. The organisation also requested that the deadline be extended for a reasonable period to ensure that all eligible candidates can complete the application process without hardship.
The letter emphasised that providing additional time would uphold the principles of transparency, fairness and equal access in the recruitment process. VBL expressed hope that the administration would give due consideration to what it termed the “genuine concern” of aspirants and take necessary steps to safeguard their interests.
The appeal comes amid concerns among job aspirants in Ladakh over the recently notified UPSC recruitment for Gazetted posts, with several candidates reportedly facing difficulties in completing the online application process within the prescribed timeframe. VBL’s intervention is expected to add weight to demands for extending the application window, particularly in view of the challenges faced by candidates in the remote Union Territory.
