Leh: Vice-President of India C. P. Radhakrishnan arrived in Leh on Friday on a three-day visit to the Union Territory of Ladakh ahead of the International Day of Yoga celebrations. He was received at Airport by Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Vinai Kumar Saxena, along with senior civil, police and military officials.
Welcoming the Vice-President on his maiden visit to Ladakh, the Lieutenant Governor described the occasion as a matter of honour and pride for the Union Territory.
“It is an honour and a pleasure to welcome Hon’ble Vice President of India, Shri C.P. Radhakrishnan ji, to Ladakh on his first visit to this beautiful land. Hon’ble VP’s presence ahead of the International Day of Yoga 2026 is truly inspiring. As we gear up to celebrate the timeless wisdom of yoga, his guidance, vision and leadership will motivate us to embrace a healthier, more balanced and harmonious way of life,” Saxena said.
During his three-day visit, the Vice-President is scheduled to interact with border communities, review developmental initiatives and participate in the International Day of Yoga celebrations in Leh.
On June 20, Radhakrishnan will visit Lukung, a designated Vibrant Village in eastern Ladakh, where he will interact with local Self Help Groups and review development works being undertaken under the Government of India’s Vibrant Villages Programme aimed at improving socio-economic conditions in frontier settlements.
The Vice-President will also pay homage at the War Memorial, honouring the sacrifices of armed forces personnel who have served in the region.
On June 21, he will join the International Day of Yoga celebrations in Leh, where youth, armed forces personnel and members of various organisations are expected to participate in large numbers. His presence is expected to add significance to the annual event, which promotes physical fitness, mental well-being and a balanced lifestyle through the practice of yoga.
