LEH: Reinforcing preventive healthcare outreach in remote border areas, the Indian Army organised a Lung Cancer Awareness and Preventive Health Check-up Camp at Chushul in eastern Ladakh on Friday to mark World Lung Cancer Day, with an emphasis on early detection, timely diagnosis and public awareness.
The camp brought together medical personnel and local residents for an awareness programme highlighting the risk factors associated with lung cancer, preventive measures, available treatment options and the importance of regular health screening in improving health outcomes.
As part of the initiative, doctors conducted preventive health examinations and encouraged residents to adopt healthier lifestyle practices that can help lower the risk of lung-related diseases. Medical experts also explained how early diagnosis can improve treatment prospects, particularly in communities where specialised healthcare facilities remain difficult to access.
The outreach programme was aimed at strengthening awareness of lung health among people living in the remote frontier region, where geographical isolation often limits access to advanced medical services. Organisers said the initiative sought to encourage timely medical consultation and routine screening for early identification of potential health concerns.
The Indian Army said the camp forms part of its continuing civic outreach initiatives in border areas, combining healthcare awareness with medical assistance to improve the well-being of local communities. The programme also reflected its sustained engagement with residents through public health interventions designed to promote preventive healthcare and improve access to basic medical services.
