DC Kacho conducts extensive tour of Matayen and Pandrass; reviews developmental needs

DRASS: Deputy Commissioner Drass Imteeaz Kacho conducted an extensive tour of Matayen and Pandrass villages on Saturday to assess developmental requirements, inspect public infrastructure and interact directly with residents on issues affecting the two villages.

Accompanied by LAHDC Councillor Abdul Samad, SDM Drass Vishal Atri, and senior officials from the Roads and Buildings, Public Health Engineering, PMGSY, Rural Development, Health, Education, Agriculture, Power Development and other departments, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the status of essential public services and ongoing development works.

At Matayen, residents led by Lambardar Mohammad Sidiq sought augmentation of drinking water facilities under the Jal Jeevan Mission, installation of additional pumps and construction of water storage tanks to ensure winter water supply. Villagers also proposed developing trekking infrastructure, including a park and tea stalls, to promote tourism and generate local employment.

The residents further demanded the upgradation of the local Middle School, additional teaching staff, improved healthcare facilities with regular availability of doctors, and the establishment of a community hall, library and skill development centre.

The Deputy Commissioner visited the village school, reviewed the functioning of public institutions and assured residents that genuine demands would receive priority, while issuing on-the-spot directions to address minor issues.

During his visit to Pandrass, residents led by Lambardar Ghulam Mohammad highlighted concerns over shortages of medical staff, inadequate healthcare facilities, drinking water scarcity, weak mobile connectivity, the need to upgrade the local High School and the development of an ice hockey ground for local youth.

Kacho also inspected the under-construction school building and directed the concerned departments to examine the issues raised and take appropriate measures for their resolution. He reiterated the administration’s commitment to balanced development and improved public service delivery in remote areas, urging all departments to work in close coordination to address public concerns in a time-bound manner.

Residents of both villages thanked the Deputy Commissioner and the accompanying officials for visiting the area and giving a patient hearing to their grievances.
