DC Drass calls for seamless coordination ahead of Sarhad Shauryathon 2026

DRASS: Deputy Commissioner, Drass, Imteeaz Kacho (JKAS) on Thursday chaired a high-level review meeting to finalise administrative, security and logistical arrangements for the Sarhad Shauryathon 2026, scheduled to be held on July 5, directing all departments to complete preparations in advance to ensure the event is conducted safely and smoothly.

The meeting brought together the Superintendent of Police, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Block Medical Officer, officials from the Army, civil administration, engineering departments, education sector, LAHDC-Kargil councillors and representatives of the Sarhad Shauryathon organising committee.

Reviewing the preparedness, the Deputy Commissioner assessed arrangements related to security, traffic regulation, medical facilities, parking, participant management and inter-departmental coordination. Detailed discussions were also held on marathon timings and visitor management.

The Superintendent of Police was instructed to ensure comprehensive security deployment, effective traffic regulation, crowd management and participant safety, with particular attention to school students expected to participate in the event. The Block Medical Officer was directed to establish a fully equipped medical camp, deploy ambulances, medical teams and emergency response personnel along the route.

To ensure a safe course for runners, the Deputy Commissioner instructed the concerned departments to undertake patchwork, cleaning and maintenance of the marathon route. He also directed the Departments of Information and Public Relations and Youth Services and Sports to execute their assigned responsibilities efficiently while calling upon government employees and civil society to participate in large numbers.

Emphasising environmental responsibility, Imteeaz Kacho ordered that the venue and marathon route be cleaned immediately after the event and directed the installation of dustbins at strategic locations.

The Deputy Commissioner stressed the need for close coordination among all stakeholder departments, stating that timely execution of assigned responsibilities would be essential for the successful conduct of the Shauryathon, which aims to promote patriotism, physical fitness, community participation and environmental awareness.
